I think that in first place the government should pay for scientific research, mainly because it's a common interest to develop new technologies and facilities to better people's lives. So I think that a good government should pay for this research, but surely also the private companies, they should but it's not should in a general sense. Private companies most of the time earn from doing research because by doing research they create new products and better the old ones. So I think that for a private company it's more a financial aspect that permits them to sell more. Rather, government must do scientific research in order to discover new things, discover new types of energy sources, for example, in this period of climate change issue. So I think that both should pay, but for different reasons.
