I'm in two minds about why people lose touch with their old friendships. On the one hand, people's lives can change. What I mean is that major events such as starting a family, moving to a new city, or switching jobs can lead to different priorities and less time for socializing with friends. On the other hand, people have hectic schedules; in this case, as people take on more responsibilities, it can become harder to find time to catch up even with the friends they care about.
