The first reason why teachers use competitions as learning activities for students is that competitions are motivating. They create the spark needed to successfully learn something. When children compete with each other, they demonstrate the best of their prowess and skills. When small prizes are given out for winning in competitions, it is also very amusing. It rewards the children who are successful. However, it can create tension for the children who didn't win, so maybe some participation prizes are a good idea as well.

And, however it can, on the other hand, it can create tension with the children who didn’t win, so maybe some participation prices are a good idea as well.
