What are some of the major factors contributing to the endangerment of plants and animals in today's world?

From my perspective, people create air pollution by using their personal vehicles instead of public transportation. Moreover, sometimes governments and individuals try to eliminate plants and jungles in order to construct new buildings. These behaviors can destroy the habitat for many kinds of animals and plants, resulting in their endangerment.
