Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing in response to a call for submissions on the subject of books that influenced us. I would like to mention Jules Verne’s adventure novel, “Around the World in Eighty Days”, which shaped my life like no other.
In case you have not read it, Around the World in Eighty Days tells the story about a British gentleman called Phileas Fogg, who bet half of his fortune with his colleagues that he would be able to go around the world in eighty days, leaving Calais in train with his butler, Passepartout, to live a great but dangerous adventure in the nineteenth century.
Not only did I develop a taste for reading, but also I became a dreamer. This character trait helped me when I had to go through some difficult moments in my life.
Nowadays, the book still has a resounding impact in society, becoming part of the collective imagination, arousing interest in sciences and discoveries, and frequently being adapted to the media such as cinema and theater. For these reasons, this novel has its place in your future article definitively.
Sincerely,
Denis Jackman
