The diagram compare the layout of an art gallery as it existed in the present day and the proposed redevelopment plan for the future.
Overall, the art gallery is expected to undergo considerable modernisation. The area of an art gallery will be expanded, while several new facilities will replaced the existing one.
In present day, the area of an art gallery is largely used for hosting exhibitions, dominated by permanent and temporary exhibition blocks in the centre. The west is occupied by the stairs and the huge area, which is not a part of gallery, whereas east part consists entrance to the lobby and office. Additionally, the north is home to Parkinson court.
According to the proposed redevelopment plan, substantial changes are planned. Most noticeably, the permanent exhibition space will be expanded, replacing the temporary exhibition blocks. In addition, the empty area on the west will be merged into a gallery and will be used for hosting a special exhibition along the exhibition store . Further developments include the lobby and office, which will be replaced by education area and a place for store or plant. Also, the entrance will be moved to the north between Parkinson Court. Only feature to remain unchanged will be Parkinson court.
