The two maps illustrate changes in Colwick Arts Centre between 2005 and the present. Overall, the Arts Centre has undergone significant development, with the addition of new areas and the reclamation of the wasteland below the centre.
In 2005, the concert hall/ cinema situated in the central area, with a snack bar and meeting room to the west. The information desk and toilets were located towards the south-west corner, and there were two small gallery spaces on the eastern side. A large wasteland occupied the entire southern of the centre.
Today, the centre has been modernized and expanded. The original concert hall/cinema is divided into two separate spaces: a cinema and a concert hall. The gallery area is enlarged and combined into one bigger space, as well as relocated to the left side of the centre. Moreover, two meeting rooms and a new drama studio have been added to the north of the gallery. The snack bar is replaced by a café, and now located at the bottom of the gallery. A central exhibition area has been introduced between the cinema and the gallery. The toilets are moved to the east.
However, the most noticeable change is the transformation of the wasteland. This space is now used as an outdoor exhibition and performance area, including a stage and seating areas surrounded by numerous trees.
In summary, Colwick Arts Centre has been improved and expanded, with more practical and aesthetic spaces, replacing the old layout and unused land.
