The given map illustrates the growth of a village called Chorleywood between 1868 and 1994.
Overall, it is evident that there are four main periods shown in the development of the village. Notably, each of the populated areas is near the main road, motorway, and railway.
Regarding the period from 1868 to 1883, Chorleywood covered only a small area adjacent to the main road. From 1883 to 1922, a new station was built in the North of the prior area, alongside the main road. In addition to that, in 1909, a railway, crossing the village from the West to the East, was erected.
The expansion of Chorleywood continued to the West and the East until 1970, with more development being constructed by the railway. At that time, a motorway was also built to the East of the village. Finally, from 1970 to 1994, more expansions took place around motorway intersections with the railway and one of the main roads, and the newly constructed area known as Chorleywood park and golf course is now located next to this original area.
