Overall, it is evident that the percentage of men aged 60-64 in employment is larger, that of women. The figures of men in 1970 are significantly high compared to the one in 2000, whereas women experienced slight fluctuations thourghout the period.
The emplyoment rate for men aged 60-64, Japan reached a peak proportion with 76% in 2000 and 84% in 1970. Belgium recorded the lowest rate in 2000 with 19% followed by a dramatic jump to 79% in 1970. Furthermore the percentages of Australia and USA were around half, at 47% and 55% respectively.
The employment figures for women aged 60-64, similar to the rate for men, women observed the highest percentages with 40% in 2000 and 43% in 1970 in Japan. Belgium hit a low of 7% in 2000 and 8% in 1970. USA demonstrated the second highest rates with 38% in 2000 and 36 in 1970. In addition Australia displayed the second smallest rates in the figüre with 19 in 2000 and 18 in 1970.
