The bar graph illustrates the contributions of the IT and Service industries to the gross domestic product (GDP) in the United Kingdom between 1992 and 2000.
Overall, it is clear that the IT industry had a more consistent contribution to GDP than the Service industry throughout this period. Both sectors displayed an upward trend; however, the IT industry experienced a slight decline between 1994 and 1996.
From 1992 to 1994, the IT industry’s GDP contribution rose from 6% to 8%, followed by a minor dip to 7.8% in 1996. Over the next four years, it demonstrated steady growth, reaching nearly 15% by 2000, marking its highest point during this period.
Conversely, the Service industry accounted for 4% of GDP contribution in 1992. This figure gradually increased, climbing to 8% by 1998. From 1998 to 2000, the growth rate slowed, and the Service sector’s GDP share leveled off at around 9%.
