Overall, it is clear that the grams of butter consumption experienced a significant decline, similarly the grams of margarine consumption decrease. Meanwhile the grams of low fat and reduced spreads started only in 1996.
In 1981, the most popular spreads product was butter started at approximately 141 gramm, before a slight increase to 160 gramm in 1986. However, afterward, the figure experienced dramatic decline to around 55 grams by the end of the period. Likewise, the consumption of margarine started at just under 80 grams in 1981, before surged to 100 gramm in 1991 and 1996. Following this the figure experienced steady decline to 40 gramm in 2007.
In contrast, the consumption of low fat and reduced spreads started in 1996 at approximately 5 gramm, before significant rose to around 81 gramm in 2001, afterward experienced a slight decrease to 68 gramm
