The graph illustrates the percentage of grown men who smoked in seven countries in 2000 and 2015. World average figures are presented too. Overall, in 15 years’ time, the numbers decreased in all countries except Egypt and Lebanon, resulting in the world average going down too.
The country with the highest difference between the two years was Banglades, which went from just above 60% to nearly 40%. Mexico and Armenia experienced the same decrease of around 15%, becoming respectively 52% and 20% in 2015. Cuba, which in 2000 hosted just 8% less male smokers than Bangladesh, did not go through the same change, and the number decreased less than 5% in 2015.
Egypt and Lebanon started at roughly the same value in 2000, around 35%, and increased in the 15 years window. Around 50% of male Egypt citizens smoked in 2015, while the number was a little less for Lebanon with 45% of male inhabitants who had this unhealthy vice.
