Dear Pat,
Thanks for being such a great host last weekend, it was great to see you and Joe again after such a long time. I hope you‛ll be able to come and stay with us in Thirsk some time soon as well.
However, there was one small snag. Unfortunately, in our hurry to get to the train on time, it seems that I left my new coat at your house. Do you remember the tan polyester coat I wore when we went to the Chinese restaurant on Sunday evening? It’s a Zara coat that goes down to about mid-thigh level. It has black buttons and quite large pockets on both sides near the bottom. What’s more, I left my camera in it! Normally, I wouldn’t even use my coat pockets as I carry everything in my handbag, but that was stuffed full of souvenirs from our sightseeing jaunt by the time we left, so I had no alternative.
Anyway, I believe I left it on a coat hanger in your hall closet. I definitely would have remembered it had the forecast for Monday’s weather not been so unexpectedly pleasant!
Bill will be driving down to London on Thursday for a conference, so perhaps he could make a slight detour over to Ely to pick up the coat if you find it. Would that be possible? He’s got your mobile number and will give you a ring on Wednesday evening just to make sure. Let me know if this isn’t possible.
Anyway, thanks again for a great weekend and I hope everything goes well with your new job.
Best wishes,
Philippa
