The given chart illustrates how many kilometres travelled by different modes of transport in the UK from 1990 to 2000.
Overall, it can be seen that the distance travelled by bicycle and motorbike experienced a downward trend, while the opposite was true for the other modes of transport.
In terms of the three least popular means of transport, bicycle and motorbike travel started at the same level, at about 10 kilometres, then both showed a decrease to 8 kilometres in 2000. Contrastly, air travel exhibited an upward trend, started at 8 kilometres and increased minimally to 10 kilometres in 2000.
In 1990, distance travelled by bus and rail stood at over 40 and 40 kilometres, but two modes finished at the same level, at about 50 kilometres in 2000. The total distance of all modes rose slightly from 100 to about 110 in the end of the period.
