Overall, it can be seen that the highest percentage of all types of student accommodation is the students who live in room shared house or flat with other students, while students who lived at home with own family in the lowest proportion, furthermore, a significant increase in the proportion of the student who lived in room in a shared house or flat with other students can be seen over the period given.
The percentage of this type of accommodation of room in shared house or flat with other students started at just 35% in 1960s, this figure than rose steadily to reach a peak of almost 70% in 2000s.
On other hand, the percentage of students staying with their families or in student apartments was the same initially, at about 15%. However, both types of accommodation fluctuated over the period. Specifically, the preference for apartments finished at over 10% in the 2000s. Conversely, the proportion of students living with their families decreased from 10% in the 1970s to 5% in the 1990s, before gradually rising to over 10% by the end of the period.
