The bar chart illustrates the proportion of men and women who teach in six different types of British educational institutions in 2010. In general, in Nursery/ Pre-school and Primary school, the teachers were dominated by women, while in the University, there is an opposite trend. In addition, gender equality among teachers was achieved in secondary schools, colleges, and Private training institutes.
The percentage of female teachers in Nursery/Pre-school and Primary school was prominent at over 90%, compared to the proportion of male teachers was below 5%. Moreover, the inequality also happened in the University with men dominating at around 70%, while the number of female teachers was lower at just 30%.
The gender equality had successfully achieved in Secondary school, Colleges, and Private training institute. The rate of men and women teachers is approximately at a balanced level between 50% and 55%, respectively. Eventhough, in secondary school, the women was slightly higher than the men. Also, in Private training institute, the male teachers were a bit higher in number compared to the female teachers.
