The chart illustrates the proportion of male and female students who are fluent in another language in six countries.
Overall, The number of female students proficient in a second language is higher than the figure for males in all countries except Thailand. Furthermore, India is the country with the highest proficiency rate in a foreign language among both male and female counterparts.
To begin with, India and Romania show the highest percentages of male proficient in foreign languages , with 55% and 42% respectively. However, male students in Vietnam and Russia are slightly higher more proficient in other languages than in Thailand ,though all of them just above 30% range. Finally, China has the lowest figure of males skilled in a second language, about 18%.
On the other hand, In India and Romania, around 65% to 68% of female students are proficient in a second language, making these two countries continue to have the highest percentage compared to the other four countries. Next, the rate of female counterparts fluent in other foreign languages in Vietnam is 56%, about 13% higher than in Russia. In China, the difference in the number of females and males in foreign language proficiency is significant with the figure for females nearly double that of males. In particular, Thailand is the only country where the ratio of male students is about 4% higher than female students.
