The table compares the proportions of individuals using mobile phones for different purposes from 2006 to 2010.
In general, the percentages of cell phone users for almost all functions witnessed upward trends with an exception of making calls over the period. Additionally, the figure for people who used their phones to make calls was the highest, compared to the remaining functions.
Looking at the first data in 2006, 100% people made calls on their mobile phones while the second-highest and the third-highest percentages went on taking photos and text messaging, at 66% and 73% respectively. In the meantime, less than one-fifth of all owners surveyed used their phones to play games and music, which stood at 17% and 12% respectively. Moreover, there were no figures for the features of searching the Internet and recording video in 2006.
Throughout the following 4 years, the rate of cell phone owners making calls remained almost constant, at 99% in 2010. While there were minor rises in the proportions of people using their mobile phones to take photographs, send and receive text messages to under 80% in 2010, that of playing games and music was more than double in the same year. Furthermore, the figure for users searching the Internet experienced a noticeable increase from 41% to 73%, which shows that accessing the network has become one of the most popular.
