The bar chart illustrates the relative percentage of Australian children from three diffirent age groups who took a part in four recreational activities: watching TV, reading, art, and riding the bike in 2012. Overall, watching TV was showed as the most popular activity amount all age groups, while art was the lowest chosen activity in the year.
As we can see, watching TV dominated over the three activities, especially amount of children who were between 12 and 16 years old, at nearly 100%. Moreover, the second activity for which was showed a preference was riding the bike, 78% of those who were between 5 and 8 years old, and over 80% of kids from oldest group, only children aged 9 to 11 accounted for about 63%.
Meanwhile, reading was slightly favourable amoung children aged 9-11 and 12-16, with participation rates close to 60%, while the youngest group illustrated a slightly lower interest. The least popular activity was art, as it had the lowest overall participation rate among children aged 9 to 16, at around 45% and 50%, respectively. However, children aged 5 to 8 demonstrated slightly more engagement in art, with a participation rate of 60%.
