The bar chart illustrates the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.
It is immediately apparent that China ranked 1st in both the production and consumption of electricity, reaching 5,398 billion kWh in the former and 5,322 billion kWh in the latter. The figure was followed by that of the United States, which produced 4,099 billion kWh and consumed 3,886 billion kWh of electricity. Its production and consumption of electricity was roughly 4 times that of Russia, which ranked 3rd on the chart.
While Brazil and Germany, ranked 8th and 9th on the chart respectively, produced almost the same amount of electricity, Germany consumed 582.5 billion kWh of electricity, more than Brazil’s 455.8 billion kWh. In addition, Germany’s consumption of electricity was more than its production. The difference in the figures of Korea and China was large, as China outnumbered Korea by more than 10 times in both aspects.
By and large, most countries listed in the chart had a higher production of electricity than consumption.
