The general trend of the graph is that of growth, with the United States growing the most between all the nations mentioned. Meanwhile, France, in comparison, grew the least during this period.
Starting from the top, the 4 highest countries on the list are the US, the UK, Canada, and Germany. For the US, their top 1% accounts for nearly 19% of the country’s total income in 2015 despite starting at only 7% in 1975. The other 3 countries, which were The UK, Canada and Germany had relatively similar figures with all starting at roughly below 10% in 1975, fluctuated wildly for the entirety of the period and ending at an approximate 14% of the country’s entire income at the end of the period.
On the other hand, France, Italy and Japan’s top 1% earns the least percentage compared to the four countries above. The least on the chart is France, with its top earners accounting for about 8% of the country’s total income in 2015. The last two countries shared a similar figure with both beginning at roughly 6% and ending near each other at approximately 8% in 2015.
