Overall, the data shows a clear changes of housing trends among young adults. While the majority of people owned homes in 2004, their number gradually declined, and by 2014 there were more renters. Furthermore, two groups were approximately the same proportion.
According to the illustration, around 59% of individuals aged 25-34 owned homes, almost three times the proportion of renters, which stood up exactly at 20%. However, the percentage of homeowners fell gradually over the next decade. By 2009, it went down nearly 51%, and dropped more rapidly, getting the lowest point, which is around 35%.
On the other hand, there was an increase of renters; the proportion of renters started exactly at 20%in 2004 and progressively went up to about 36% during the next 6 years. Between 2011 and 2014, figure rose progressively to just below 50% nearly equaling to homeowners in 2010. This upward trend of renters and downward trend of homeowners continued until the end of the period.
