Overall, there was an uptrend for glass, aluminum and plastic recycling rate, while paper & cardboard rate fluctuated strongly during the given period. One noteworthy point wass that glass and paper experienced a dramatic drop-down in 1990.

Firstly, Aluminium cans’ recycle rate was recorded to rocket during 1986 and 2020, rising from approximately 4% to around 44% in 15 years. On the other hand, plastics recycling was not well adopted, facing a slow raise from 3% to 9%.

Despite experiencing an overall growth, glass and paper recycling rate dropped significantly in 1900. After that event, glass recycling rate was recorded to increase consistently, marking 60% at the end of the period. Meanwhile, paper reprocessing percentage experienced a fluctuating path. Its recycle rate faced a slight growth only in 1986 and 1994, then steadily decreased in over 15 years, from 1994 to 2010.

In summary, although all four materials were recycled in 2010 more than in 1982, each of them experienced a different trend.
