The diagram illustrates the process of transforming information into a long-term memory.
Overall, the process includes eight steps that can be categorized into three main stages, initiating with recieving sencory, passing through rehearsalling and ending with forming long-term memory.
The process begins with the sensory input, when the information is identified by hearing, seeing, smelling and touching before being sent to the brain. Subsequently, those data are divided into tow ways, which is being forgotten or being conveyed into short-term memory.
If the data are transformed into short-term memory, the process will continue with the encoding of the information, which is finished through rehearsal. Finally, after encoding, the sources at the beginning are stored, which is long-term memory.
