The two pie charts below display the proportion of economic contribution made by different industry sectors in Turkey in 2000 and 2016.
Overall, the agriculture sector made the majority of contribution in 2000, while healthcare and education contributions remained constant in both years.
To begin with, most of those sectors grew in contribution percentage over the two different years. The construction sector increased significantly, growing from 3% to 10%. The manufacturing sector also rose from 8% to 12%. Trade, utilities and transportation made up 16%, as it was accounted for 14% in 2000. Finance and business sector also raised from 5% to 8%. Healthcare and education sectors remained unchanged, 17% in both years.
On the other hand, some of the sectors decreased dramatically in contribution. Agriculture sector took 24% in 2000, but now it made up only 14%. Government and leisure and hospitality sectors both fell in 3%, respectively, going from 12% to 9% and from 17% to 14%.
