The two pie charts below illustrate the percentage of industry sectors contribution to the economy of Turkey in 2000 and 2016.
Overall, agriculture was the highest sector in 2000, however, it’s significantly decreased by 2016. Meanwhile, healthcare and education remained constant in both years.
To begin with, in 2000, the main sectors were agriculture at 24% leisure and hospitality, education and healthcare at 17%. While construction was the lowest at 3%.
Moreover by 2016 there were some noticeably changes. Trade, utilities and transportation is grew to 16% and Construction also increased to 10%. Nevertheless Finance, business and other remained stable.Manufacturing also experienced a moderate rise from 8% to 12%, while the contribution of the government sector slightly declined.
In conclusion, although agriculture was once the dominant sector, by 2016 other industries had grown, indicating a shift towards a more balanced and diverse economic structure.
