The illustrations give information on the reasons of for smoking cessation and their target deadlines. The baseline and target data in the study are in percentages of people according to the number of cigarettes smoked per day: fewer than 10, 10-19, and 20+ of cigarettes
In overview, regardless the initial number of cigarettes smoked in a day, majority of the participants in the study decided to stop smoking for better health in general. While majority of the people intend to give up smoking, there is still a percentage who has no intention to do so. The deadline that had the highest number of votes was within the next months.
In detail, the majority, at 71% wanted to stop smoking to live healthier. The remaining reasons garnered less than half of this percentage, with financial considerations only having 31%. Following this, with 1/4 of the percentage, is for the reason of wanting lesser risk of getting smoking-related illnesses. Family pressure received 16%, which was followed at last by, having present health problems with only 12%.
In this regard, 71% of the total participants in the study intend to give up smoking. 35% of these target smoking cessation withing the next 6 months, with 3/5 of the aforementioned percentage aim to end smoking within the next year. A 12% of those who intend to stop smoking plan to do si within the next month. 29% of the total respondents have no intention to stop.
