The bar chart illustrates the share of adults in different age groups in the UK who used the Internet on a daily basis between 2003 and 2006.
Overall, the percentage of people who use the Internet daily rose over time in all age groups, while the age group 16-24 showed the highest figures.
To begin with, 80 percent of young people (16-24) used the Internet regularly, whereas this figure stood at nearly 50 percent among people 25-44 years old. Meanwhile, the 45-54 group accounted for 60 percent. In the next year, group 16-24 remained the same, while groups 25-44 and 45-54 went up by approximately 10 percent. In 2005,the percentge of young people at age 16-24 using the Internet every day experienced a rapid growth to 100 percent, after which it dropped to around 60 percent by the end of the period. At the same time, two following groups continued to grow steadily and ended at 80 percent.
In terms of the elderly, the group 55-64 started at roughly 30 percent and fluctuated moderately in the next two years. Subsequently, it saw a rise to nearly 50 percent. In contrast, there is no data abut the share of people at age 65+ that use the Internet in 2003. However, the figure increased from roughly 15 percent to 20 percent throughout the period.
