In general, it can be observed that the
the sales of children’s books and educational books increased, while the opposite was true for adult fiction. It is also notable that the sale of educational books was always the lowest, with the exception for the year 2006, when it slightly outraced the sale of adult fiction.
Looking at the types of book with higher number of sales, it is evident that the sales of children’s books commenced at roughly 32 M$, then it experienced a gradual rise by 10 M$ in the following 3 years, prior to its significant growth to approximately 58 M$. It is also noticeable that the figures of educational books remained the, excepted for the last year, which began at the lowest point of nearly 25 M$ and hovered around 25 M$ to 31 M$ until the end of the surveyed time span.
Turning to the remaining type of book. It is clear that the sales of adult fiction started at the highest point but ended at the lowest point. It started at approximately 46 M$, decreased by nearly 8 M$ and had recovered to 40 M$, before declining substantially to only 30 M$ in 2006.
