The bar graph illustrates the number of applicants to tertiary education in one European country.
In general, China was the country with the largest number of international students from 2004 to 2006, but from 2006 to 2008, it can be seen that the United States took the lead and became the country with a large number of international students. Moreover, we can see that the number of students in Russia and Japan is quite low and has not changed much over 5 years.
China reached the highest number of students with 28,000 students studying at European Universities in 2004, but in 2005 and 2006, China decreased to 18,000 students studying. Furthermore, this downward trend continued sharply in the next two years, recording only 18,000 and 16,000 students in 2007 and 2008, respectively. The United States, on the other hand, showed an impressive increase in the number of students studying at European Universities. In 2004, the United States only had 20,000 students enrolled, but the number of students gradually increased until 2008, reaching 28,000 students.
If talking about the number of students of the remaining two countries. The number of students in Japan increased slightly from 2004 to 2008 with the number of students being 8,000 to 10,000. But in contrast, Russia’s number of students decreased in 2005 with 2,500 students enrolled but also increased slightly in the next 3 years with 4,000 students enrolled.
