The three pie charts illustrate the whole picture of South Korea’s electronic games players and respectively detail the percent of the age of those gamers, their gender and the game genres that they are interested in. Overall, people who are under 18 are unsurprisingly the main consumers of this type of digital entertainment and the gender figure of the players also tells the same story. Predictably, the favorite type of games goes to actions.
A closer look at the first two charts reveals that under 18 people hold the top spot, accounting for 39 percent of total game players. Following closely behind is the 18-36 age group who occupy 38 percent, only 1 unit percent lower than the leading group. Coming at the last is people who are forty or above, with the mere 23 percent of the market being shared to them. On top of that, over 72 percent of players are male and only 28 percent of them are female.
Actions games dominate the market, being the favorite type of 43 percent of surveyed gamers. Such number is more than double of the figures for the two genres behind, respectively being sports at 20 percent and racing at 17 percent. Whereas the least favorite game genres only occupy 20 percent of the market in total, with the proportion being distributed equally to education, role-playing games and other types, at roughly 7 percent.
