The maps depict a number of changes in a library from 1975 to the present. Overall, the library has experienced several modifications, the most significant of which was the replacement of facilities in two sides and the addition of chairs and tables areas catering for the increase in the visitors going to the library.
In the northern part, a stair entrance was located on the top middle of the plan in 1975, and to the left of it was an area for books and magazines, while to the right were two sections of new books. Now, the stair entrance and the section of new books at the right corner still remain while there has witnessed some changes, with books and magazines area being converted into computers area, and the new books section next to the entrance being replaced by a wheelchair access.
In the southern part, there were two bookshelves on the left-hand side, one near the centre of the library and the other at the bottom left corner, between which were shared areas. On the opposite side, there was a library desk with several chairs facing the bookshelves, an area for children’s books at the bottom right corner, and a toilet at the back of the plan in 1975. Following the renovations, while the facilities at the bottom stays in the same place, including the bookshelves, toilet and the children’s books area, the remaining bookshelves have been used for a coffee shop. Moreover, the library desk on the right has been moved close to the top of the plan in order to give way for the shared areas, and the addition of two triangle tables and three square tables in front of the area for children’s books.
