Fantasy films rose moderately, from just over 10% to nearly 17%, while romance remained the least produced genre, showing only a slight increase from about 7% to 8%.
Regarding ticket sales, comedy attracted the highest proportion in both years, climbing from around 20% in 1996 to about 23% in 2006. Drama followed, with a small rise from approximately 16% to 17%. Fantasy ticket sales grew noticeably, whereas romance experienced a decline, falling from around 5% to just 2%.
