Overall, Canada, Germany and the UK both saw a growth in the amount of people aged 65 or older over the timeframe. It should also be noted that Germany remained the country with the highest percentage of people aged 65 or older throughout the entire period.
Starting with Canada, in 1980, only 10% of its population is aged 65 or above, 20 years later in 2000, that changed to 15% and as projected in 2030, that number will grow to about 20%. Germany also follow a similar trend, commencing the period at 15%, which then grew to 20% in 2000 and predicted to reach 25% in 2030.
The UK saw the least growth out of the three. In 1980, its population is comprised of around 13% people 65 and older, In 2000 that number only rose 2% to 15%, and it is projected to reach just over 18% in 2030.
