It is clear that Sweden’s divorce rate fluctuated throughout the period, hitting its highest point in the middle and ending with its lowest rate. Finland, on the other hand, experienced a steady rise in divorce rates, starting from the lowest point at the beginning of the period and reaching its peak later on. By the end of the period, both countries had nearly the same divorce rates.
In terms of Sweden’s divorce rate, it was about 45% in 2011, approximately 8% higher than Finland. It then rose to nearly 50% the following year. However, by 2013, the rate gradually decreased to about 47%, continued to decline slightly in 2014 to 45%, and hit its lowest point at 37% by the end of the period.
On thr other hand, Percentages of divorce in Finland were less than 40% at the beginning, and it dropped in 2012, when about one of third marriages ending with divorce (as opposed to almost a half in Sweden). However, the figure experienced a soar in the upcoming years being almost 40% in 2013 and showed a steady increase going up to 3% in 2014. At the end of the period the figure remained steady outracing the rates of Sweden.
