The bar chart provides information on the number of students enrolled in music at an Australian university during the period from 2000 to 2006, whereas the pie chart illustrates their career choices after graduation.
Overall, the data reveals a higher interest in music among female students compared to male students. However, it is also noted that at the end of their student life, a significant number of students did not choose this profession as their career path.
Initially, the percentages of male and female students were equal at 20%. An increasing trend in enrolled female students is observed, rising from 20% to 60%, while a decrease in male students is seen till 2004, in which only one tenth of the male students were enrolled in music. However, starting from 2005, there was a considerable surge, returning to its initial proportion.
Regarding the career preferences, most of the alumni who enrolled in music classes did not actually pursue their careers in the music field. A quarter of the graduates carried on to their professional life in a related field of work. The proportion of students who remained in the profession they had studied ranked third, accounting for only 20%.
