The given bar chart illustrates the total number of people who were employed based on job type and gender in Australia in the previous year.
Overall, most women were found working in clerical-related professions whereas the highest percentage of men were working as tradesmen.
To begin with, there are the top three earning jobs which are managers, professionals, and semi-professionals. Both managerial and semi-professional careers have similar proportions in gender distributions where there were more male adults hired in these fields than women. On the other hand, there was a higher percentage of female adults hired in a professional field than men although the discrepancy is merely around 50%.
When we look at the bottom four, the number of female workers in both trading and production is the same. However, there were massive discrepancies in the male workers hired in these two fields. There were eight times more male employees than female employees who worked in trading and almost five times more men than women in production. Labourers have a similar proportion of male and female employees although the ratio is only around 120%. In contrast, clerical jobs are popular options for women (around 980%) than men (around 880%). In general, clerical-related occupations are much-preferred options for women in Australia whereas trading is still a number preference for men.
