O verall, the number of male engineering students was significantly higher than that of fe male ones in each of the years. Notably, the difference between female and male engineering majors gradually narrowed, with male students decreasing slightly and females increasing thro ughout the period.
Looking at the first year, the bar chart reveals that during this period there was a biggest difference between male and female student numbers, with male undergraduates at the peak of 14,000 and female students a t the bottom of 2 ,000. Moving on to the next year (2002), the trend for female students doubled, reaching 4,000, while male engineering majors in Australian universities went down by 2,000.
In the last year, the number of male students remained unchanged. In contrast, female students studying engineering went up by 2,000, reaching its highest point.
