The bar chart provides Harley Davidson and BMW’s sales of newly released motor vehicles during 2010 and 2020.
Overall, there was a huge difference in numbers between the two brands, with Harley Davidson taking dominance the majority of the time. Additionally, Harley Davidson’s turnover was on a higher decline compared to BMW’s gradual rise.
In 2010, Harley Davidson sold just over 180,000 vehicles, which was more than double BMW’s sales. Despite the moderate decrease in almost 8 years, the amount of Harley Davidson motorbikes still continued to outdo BMW’s; however, the 8-year period was when the latter growth became more prevalent. It was until 2018 that BMW finally caught up by having sold approximately 130,000 motorbikes, which was slightly higher than Harley Davison with around 120,000 vehicles.
Falling in numbers, the amount of vehicles sold by Harley Davidson started going down in 2012. The downward trend continued, which resulted in the 40,000-vehicle gap between both brands in 2020. Opposite of Harley Davidson, BMW sales steadily increased and reached 140,000 motorbikes in 2020.
