Overall, there has been a consistent increase in percentage points for each nation. Germany retained the top spot followed by UK with Spain coming last. However, the gap between these nations have reduced significantly compared to 2007.
Initially, Germany stood with a commanding 70 percent with an increase of above 20 percentage points. The increment was not quite rapid compared to the other two countries. Spain on the other hand, grew from just below half to 90 percent in 2019 constituting an increase by nearly 40 percentage points. The UK was in the middle of the pack. Close to 60 percent of households had internet access which eventually ballooned to above 90 percent.
In conclusion, all three countries saw substantial growth in households with internet access over the span of 12 years. By 2019, atleast 9 in 10 houses have access to the internet in Germany, UK and Spain.
