The bar chart illustrates statistics of individuals who consumed five servings of fruit and vegetables per day in the Uk between the years 2001 and 2008.
Overall, women were the highest consumers among the three group of participants which remained at the top position throughout the years. Men and children had a significant difference as compared to the women in the initial years whereas it decreased prominently in the latter years. All the three section of people showed similar pattern of consumption from the year 2001 to 2008.
In the year 2001, just over 20% of women had five portions of fruits and vegetables per day. This percentage increased steadily until the year 2006. In the coming two years after the year 2001, this data remained under 30% while in the year 2004, the number reached approximately 30%. In 2006, this data reached its highest point, with percentage more than 30%. However, the data receded in the years 2007 and 2008. Despite the declination, the data was just over 30%.
The other two remaining group, men and children, had a stable consumption rate in the years between 2001 and 2003, where percentage of men was above 15% and for children in was more than 10%. This value increased and reached between 20-25% in men and stayed in between 15-20% for children over the three years period. The data of men levelled off in year 2007 just before dipping slightly. In contrast, children consumption rate increased up to the year 2007 reaching value of about 25% before falling back to below 25% in the year 2008.
