The bar graph provides information about the percentage of pupils, both girls and boys, who passed their high school qualification exams in seven different subjects from 2010 to 2011. Overall, it is evident that girls achieved a higher pass rate in six subjects, with the exception of geography, where boys outperformed girls.
According to the chart, 56.3% of girls passed computer science, making it the highest pass rate among the seven categories. In comparison, boys had a pass rate of approximately 41.1% in this subject. In mathematics, the pass rates for both boys and girls were nearly equal, at around 49.2% for boys and 48.4% for girls. When it comes to foreign languages, both genders had similar success rates, with girls at 47.4% and boys at 46.8%. Girls also passed physics at a rate of about 36.7%, which was higher than the 34.6% of boys who passed.
In chemistry, however, the results were more pronounced, with girls achieving a pass rate of 30.2%, which is significantly higher than the boys’ pass rate of just 14.1%. In history, girls passed at a rate of 25.6%, compared to 22.9% for boys.
The only subject where boys surpassed girls was geography, where they achieved a pass rate of 30.4%, which is 10% higher than the girls’ rate.
