The diagram exhibits a bar chart that compares the proportion participation of men in senior development in three different organization namely, IBM, Microsoft and Apple during the period from 1980 to 2010.
Overall, the proportion of participation of men in senior development showed an upward trend at IBM, Microsoft, and Apple throughout the period, whereas percentage increased in IBM and Microsoft higher than Apple.
Looking at the chart in more detail, it is evident that in 1990, the participation of percentage in three companies was almost similar, more than 10%, but from 1980 to 1985 this percentage wasn’t same, it was higher at Apple company than other two companies. After which, IBM company gradually increased their ratio and reached over and above 60% by the end of 2010. In 1995 and 2000 Microsoft company was the third position in the percentage participation of men in senior development but in 2010 they reached the more than 40%, which was second position.
The most intriguing finding in the data is that initially in 1980 the percentage of senior posts held by men was the highest at Apple, with about 15% and IBM was the lowest position but after three decades in 2010 IBM reached at the first place and Apple fell to the lowest position.
