The line graph shows the changes in the contribution of three areas the Agriculture, Industry, and Services which proportion to India’s GDP from 1960 to 2000.
Overall, it is clear that Agriculture went down over the period, while Industry and Services went up. Services became the largest part of India’s GDP by the end.
In 1960, Agriculture was the biggest part, at about 48% of GDP, much higher than Industry 20% and Services 32%. Over the next 20 years, however, Agriculture fell to around 35% in 1980. Meanwhile, Services started to rise slowly, passing Agriculture in about 1980 and reaching about 42% in 1990.
Similarly, Industry also grew during the period. It began at 20% in 1960 and rose to nearly 30% in 2000. In contrast, Agriculture continued to fall, finishing at about 25% in 2000, which was the lowest of the three.
