The presented bar chart demonstrates how the main fields contributed to India’s gross domestic product between 1960 and 2000. Overall, it can be seen that Agriculture in this country tended to significantly decrease until 2000, becoming the smallest percentage sector. Meanwhile, Services witnessed dramatic development, turning into the highest sector contribution in 2000.
In 1960, Indian agriculture had the highest output of all sectors, accounting for nearly 65% of GDP. Then it started to continuously decline over the period 40 years, this field still held on to maintain above 50% from 1960 to 1970. From 1980, the percentage of agriculture dropped around 45% and by 2000, it became the smallest quarter with nearly 15% and only one-fourth of the rate in 1960. On the other hand, Services of India changed in the sharply upward direction, in 1960, the proportion of this trade was only about 16% of India’s GDP. However, after 30 years, it rapidly increased from 16% to nearly 45%, approximately 2.8 times compared to 1960. Until 2000, it became the highest field which contributed to India’ GDP.
In addition, Industry also steadily rose over a period of 40 years starting from 1960. It used to be the smallest sector contributor at about 15%, then it began to small increase from 20% to around 25% and maintain stability until 2000. In this period, it was the second field of all.
