The bar graph provided depicts the information regarding of the relative contributions of the agricultural, industrial, and service sector to India’s gross domestic product (GDP) between 1960 and 2000.
In general, the significance of the agriculture declined steadily throughout the period, while the industry, on the other hand, saw a stable increase. Despite this, a different pattern emerged for the services, which experienced a modest climb from 1960 to 1980 but then plateaued for the subsequent 20 years.
The agricultural sector accounted for the largest proportion of the India’s economy in 1960, which underwent a dramatic decrease, nosediving from over 60% to just more than one-tenth during the observed 5 decades. In comparison, the service one rocketed from below 20% in 1960 to around 23% in 1970 and approximately 45% in 1990. Eventually, it matched the high point that the agriculture reached at the beginning, reflecting the reversal of the dominant trend in 2000.
Looking at the Industry in more detail, it sustained its share of India’s wealth from 1960 onwards. After the slight rise from about 16% to roughly 28%, the industrial sector remained stable for the following 20 years, maintaining a constant proportion of the overall GDP.
