Overall, energy consumption in China and the US was significantly higher than in the other countries. In addition, all countries except Germany produced more energy than they spent.
According to the data, in 2014, China led both production and consumption with impressive figures of 5,398 billion kWh and 5,322 billion kWh, respectively. The United States is in second place with a production of 4,099 billion kWh and a consumption of 3,866 billion kWh. Russia ranks third with production of 1,057 billion kWh and consumption of 1,038 billion kWh. Japan and India, ranked fourth and fifth, reflect similar patterns with production of 974 billion kWh and 871 billion kWh and consumption of 948 billion kWh and 698.8 billion kWh, respectively.
In terms of electricity consumption, Canada ranks first with 618.9 units produced and 499.9 units consumed, followed by France with 561.2 units produced and 462.9 units consumed. Brazil and South Korea are also self-sufficient, with Brazil producing 530.7 units and consuming 455.8 units and South Korea producing 485.1 units and consuming 449.5 units. However, Germany is an exception, consuming 582.5 units while producing only 526.6 units, placing it 9th on the list.
