One of the charts represents the money spent on imports of seafood to the US, between 2002 and 2022, with a prediction for 2032. The other chart shows the country from where came such imports, divided by proportions, in the year 2022.
Overall, 2022 was the time where more money was spent on seafood shippings, having as country of origin mainly China and Thailand as a second choice. However, 2002 was the year with less expenditure in this type of food.
Throughout the years, it is predicted that the billions of dollars invested in seafood will rise, slightly fluctuating, since the beginning of the period, with an expenditure of around 7 billions, to 11 in 2012, reaching a peak of 21billions in 2022 and ending with estimated 18 billions.
During the most expensive year, China accounted for the biggest preference, with 28% of imports. The second highest, was Thailand with 23%, followed by Canada who made up 16%. There are a group of countries marked as “other” with 9%, surprisingly, it was Equador who got the least importations to the US, with only 7%.
