The bar chart illustrates the preference of participants between two gender cohorts among four different genres of sport namely baseball, football, soccer and basketball.
Overall, basketball and football witnessed more males participating than their female counterparts, while football and basketball experienced a reverse trend. Additionally, football was the most preferred sport among males, whereas soccer attracted the largest share of females.
Looking at the bar chart, baseball and soccer are preferred more by females, the highest participants for the female group were recorded for soccer, totaling approximately 40 millions. In contrast, this genre saw the lowest participants among the male cohort, who only attended at about 10 million of people. Similarly, with regard to highly recreational sports, Baseball also displayed differing preferences between the gender cohorts, but appealing to a significant number of both male and female cohorts, with respective participants of roughly 20 and 35 millions.
Regarding the other sports, football and basketball are more popular among the male participants, notably, the largest sportsmanship difference between the two cohorts occurred in basketball, where approximately 25 million of males participated, around five times the number of their female counterparts. Similarly, football showcased a stark contrast in preferences, with about 45 million of male participants attending this sport compared to only about 20 millions for the female cohorts.
