The bar chart compares the GDP figures in India for three sectors: agriculture, industry, and services between 1960 and 2000.
Overall, a noticeable change was the considerable growth of services the services sector, albeit with a significant drop in agriculture over the period. Meanwhile, the industry sector, despite steadily increasing in first three decades, experienced a moderate decline in the finishing year.
In terms of wild changes by the end of the period, it can be seen that in 1960, agriculture accounted for the largest proportion of India’s GDP, reaching a peak at 62%, while services were the least dominant sector expanding economy, at nearly 16%. In a following two decades, whereas services boosted GDP’s proportion to 45%, agriculture experienced a downward trend to 30% by 1990. These trends followed a consistent trajectory by 2000, with agriculture dropping to a quarter, and services peaking at 62% which was true for the agriculture sector in the beginning.
Regarding industry, it can be seen that in 1960 it brought the lowest proportion to India’s GDP ( 14%). This was followed by a steady rise to 25% by 1980 and stabilization by the end of the timeframe.
